Stay hydrated from the inside..

The beauty of water, is like many essential necessities, you truly do not appreciate it until you don’t have it. And I’m talking about that achy thirst on a Summer Sunday, at 5pm, when you’re sandy and sticky taking in the last licks of a beach day kind of dehydrated. Even though you’re staring, literally staring, at an enormous body of water, not a single droplet of drinking water is in your reach. It is then that makes you appreciate when you do have an ice cold glass, and then maybe think to yourself that you will never put yourself into this situation ever again. Maybe.

It’s not only the stuff a parched Sunday dreams are made of but essential for literally every part of our body’s functions. About 70% of our body weight is water itself, and aside for it being so darn refreshing, it aids in every part of our bodily functions. Responsible for metabolizing all the nutrients we consume, feeding every part our body, it also regulates our internal body temperature, lubricates joints and muscles and assists in cleansing out waste through our body. Meaning everything, truly everything, can be solved with staying hydrated.

Some hydration tips, never too much of a good thing;

Don’t underestimate any kind of exercise, whether your jam is a brisk walk, or bike ride, any form of movement can deplete water in your body in this heat. As your body continues to cool down, remember that water is essential before, during and after your workout.

Eat your water with summers best: cucumbers, squash, celery, tomatoes, strawberries, citrus and melons; all refreshing favorites for a reason, but also, they are just plain delicious.

Take care of your skin: our skin is our best clue as to whats going on inside us, so fine lines along eyes and lips means its aching for some TLC and water. Aloe, hyaluronic acid, green tea, rose and cactus water products lock that hydration in.

Watch alcohol: not obsessively, but cautiously. It’s a saying for a reason, for every glass of wine, be sure to drink the same amount of water to absorb some of it and not leave you even more dehydrated.

Make it super easy: If you know you’re going to be out for the day, invest in a large water bottle that keeps cool throughout the day. If you’re home, keep a reusable straw by your side to make it even easier.

Play around with flavored water: all the benefits of extra fun and extra H2O, it all works!
